OOC: So is this place still alive? Stuff happened and I didn’t have time to RP! (Bad excuse I know!)

It surely was another attack! A family of muggles was attacked and possibly murdered.
Horrible.
Oh my Merlin ! That’s… Oh goodness.
What are the ministry officials doing about it?? Where was the attack??
Just outside of London, if I remember correctly. The paper quoted that they used memory charms on some of the policemen and muggle bystanders.

The information in the article was so basic. Seemed like the ministry was trying to keep it all quiet.
Horrible. It made me feel physically sick.
Oh gosh - I haven’t had the time… Surely not another attack already? The last was less than a month ago !

What-
Is everyone okay? Where is Noctua with my dang paper?!
A family of muggles were attacked by a group of wizards.

There was only limited details about it but it still makes me sick.

Cute idea!
I haven’t read the Tales of the Beetle and the Bard in such a long time. I used to love it as a child, so much I even named my cat after one of the characters.
Thanks!
Oh you did? What’s your cat’s name? I really loved it, too.
I called him Babbity. My mother wanted a normal name but my 7 year old self wouldn’t let him be called anything else.

OOC: I’ve been really busy lately so I haven’t had much time to RP. Spending most of your work days in front of a computer doesn’t really make you want to get back on the computer when you come home! Plus some sporting and family commitments have started up again. Hopefully I’ll be able to get into a pattern once this place gets lively again.
I think we all need some together time. Enemies and friends alike in the Great Hall for maybe some Tales of the Beetle and the Bard? Hmm?
Cute idea!

Guess that’s why Gryffindors and Slytherins fight so much. Neither wants to back down.
I guess. I’ve always wanted a sibling, it can get a bit lonely at home during the holidays. - She gives Andromeda a small smile -
That and we both tend to have unreasonable pride. -She chuckles slightly-
I bet it does. I can’t imagine my life without my sisters, I don’t know how I’d be able to live if I lost them -She sighs at the thought, knowing she needn’t worry about losing her family- they mean the world to me.
Oh, they certainly do.

I’m sure nothing will happen to them - Alice bites her lip, knowing full well that something could quite easily happen to them, with all the trouble they cause - Hmmm. I guess I’ll guess have to put up with my friends being my substitute siblings.
- Alice stared silently at Andy, knowing that she had a lot more to say about the Black family morals but knew better than to upset yet another person over the incident - Yeah, I have a habit of over reacting to everything. I just don’t like seeing people hurt and I like to stand up for what I believe in, just like you and your family.
I understand, well sort of. I’m really close to my parents but I don’t actually have any brothers, sisters or even cousins that I’m close to.
-She lets out a dismissive sigh, she was glad Alice had backed down, and as well that she could see Andromeda’s blind need to defend her family and their beliefs, despite the subtle differences to her own- It’s surprising, that we relate in that way. -She says, simply, preferring not to delve into the reasons for it-
Then you don’t understand the bond. Thank you for trying to appreciate ours. -She says, having let her guard down slightly for the time being-

Marlene! I was trying to nap and your ridiculous noise woke me up!
Well, at least I got to see your pretty face, my darling Alice! And it’s something fun, leave me be.
Why is your ‘something fun’ always something that disturbs others or is just down right trouble?

But I’ll ignore it this time, since you complimented me and all. Flattery will get you everywhere. - Alice grins at Marlene -
I know right! Maybe being half squirrel isn’t so bad after all. - Alice laughs -
Not sure how this squirrel tail could get much worse! - Alice smiles as she squeezes her eyes shut while Niamh performs the spell - I think it’s still there! - Alice turns around to see that the squirrel tail is lighter - Now it looks like the ghost version of the squirrel tail!
Maybe if we both say the spell at the same time? “Squirrel tail, squirrel tail that has all gone wrong…”
-The grin she had plastered on her face grew even wider when she saw that the tail had turned into ghostly pale and almost invisible behind Alice.- I can’t believe that spell actually worked in the first place. But maybe… -Holding her wand steady, she nodded at the blonde before repeating the spell once more.- Squirrel tail, squirrel tail that has all gone wrong. Turn back to normal so Alice can run along.
To be honest I’m not sure if it was the spell or it was just naturally wearing off. Cute spell though! - Alice smiles as leans her head over her shoulder, noticing the tail is gone - It’s gone! Now I don’t have to be trapped in the library forever!

….
Actually I am connected to the incident. Look all I am saying is that I don’t think what Bellatrix did was acceptable, no matter how much her family defends her. I really don’t want to talk about this anymore, it’s been taken too far.
- Alice looks down at her shoes awkwardly -
I doubt you are, but it doesn’t matter. You insulted my family’s morals, and that I do not stand for. -Andromeda rolls her eyes, and begins to scowl, doing her best to ignore her minimal dig towards Bella- I agree, it has been taken too far, it’s absurd.
Look, Alice, I have nothing against you, so we can put this behind us, but I cannot tolerate people insulting my family.
- Alice stared silently at Andy, knowing that she had a lot more to say about the Black family morals but knew better than to upset yet another person over the incident - Yeah, I have a habit of over reacting to everything. Recent events have led me to question your sisters intellect. Or not so much their intellect, maybe their actions and their values.
- Alice goes quiet noticing Andromeda’s blank and slightly annoyed look. She shrugs her shoulders. Alice has given up on caring about what some people think. -
Recent events? What my family believes in, is none of your business. I cannot fathom how you can think it is even remotely acceptable to insult them in this way, for something you are in no way connected or involved in. -she fumes, trying to keep her tone under control. She’s willing to let it go and walk away, assuming Alice doesn’t take her insults towards the Black family any further, that, Andromeda couldn’t take-

I’m sure i could live with it. People have had much worse mistakes than this and it’s already fading. See?- points to tail -
Excuse me? -She looks at Alice, her glare piercing- What gives you the right to insult my sisters’ intellect?
Yes, yes it’s going incredibly well -she grits her teeth, with Alice having insulted the one thing Andromeda cares about whole-heartedly, her patience has run dry-

*Starts charming bells and anything else that makes noise to appear where she wants around the halls. Once she’s done, she sits down, waiting.*
Marlene! I was trying to nap and your ridiculous noise woke me up!

I do trust her actually.
I can’t get a date without the squirrel tail. So that wouldn’t be a problem.
As I said, good luck. Some of the things she says are outright nonsensical.
The tail would make it even more unlikely, Alice. -she rolls her eyes- You’ll get rid of it some way or another.
Hmmm. I think she sometimes what she says makes more sense than what your sisters come out with.

What the teachers don’t know won’t hurt them!
But in all seriousness I wanted to go swimming in the Black Lake, but that was when it was warm!
You should be careful with what you plan, Alice dear… But a dip in the Black Lake sounds like a good idea. If only it’d stop raining!
I’m not planning anything yet! - Alice smiles - But when it does stop raining would you like to accompany me to the lake?

It was wasn’t it? Hopefully Niamh will help me get rid of it…
But I’d totally rock the half squirrel look if I had this for the rest of my life. But I can imagine how annoying this tail would get.
Well, if you trust her. Good luck.
Yes, I’m sure you would. But you couldn’t go out in public without a charm to hide it, and I think it would be significantly harder to find a date.
I do trust her actually.

I can’t get a date without the squirrel tail. So that wouldn’t be a problem.
I am surprised I wasn’t kicked out of the library actually! Aw thanks, good thing I think squirrels are pretty cool.
Oh haha! But yes that would be great! As entertaining as this is I don’t want to have this tail for the rest of my life!
They live on trees, stuff their face with nuts and still manage to look utterly adorable. There must be some kind of dark magic going on there. Cause no one looks good with their mouth full like those squirrels can.
-She gives Alice a big grin- Great! But if something goes awry.. Then I’m really terribly sorry. Okay, let’s see. -She takes a few steps to stand behind the blonde, her wand raised and aimed at her tail- “Squirrel tail, squirrel tail that has all gone wrong. Turn back to normal so Alice can run along.”
I know right! Maybe being half squirrel isn’t so bad after all. - Alice laughs -

Maybe if we both say the spell at the same time? “Squirrel tail, squirrel tail that has all gone wrong…”
- Alice blushes slightly as she realises Andy could see her attractive squirrel tail - Well, um, I may have mispronounced a couple of spells in a row and yeah this happened.
That was quite daft of you. If you can’t get rid of that thing you’ll be stuck looking like half a squirrel for the rest of your life. -She laughs slightly, but good-naturedly- What have you tried to fix it? -She scoffs-
It was wasn’t it? Hopefully Niamh will help me get rid of it…

But I’d totally rock the half squirrel look if I had this for the rest of my life. But I can imagine how annoying this tail would get.
Hopefully it’ll just disappear naturally! Oh dear, neither of us is having much luck with spells today!
Oh um, I mispronounced several spells in a row and a small explosion happened. Once the smoke had cleared I noticed I had a squirrel tail…
It’s a wonder how no one heard the explosion or noticed the smoke. And even though a squirrel tail is unnatural on a witch. I think it looks cute.
-She reaches into her boot for her wand- Okay, okay. How about I give a try at it first? Cause I don’t think you’d want to leave the library with that tailing behind you.
I am surprised I wasn’t kicked out of the library actually! Aw thanks, good thing I think squirrels are pretty cool.

Oh haha! But yes that would be great! As entertaining as this is I don’t want to have this tail for the rest of my life!
No I haven’t! “Finite Incantatem” - Alice frowns as she notices that the bushy squirrel tail is still there - To be honest I don’t think any reversal spell will work until I calm myself down and stop laughing. This could only happen to me!
-she gives the Sixth Year a comforting smile- When there’s a twelve inch squirrel tail sitting in front of you, it’s kind of hard not to laugh. Even if it prevents you from concentrating on a spell. And please, it could of happened to anyone. I’m still trying to turn this three-eyed frog back to normal, if and when I get my hands on it.
How did you manage to come up with this seemingly ‘irreversible’ enlargement spell anyway?
Hopefully it’ll just disappear naturally! Oh dear, neither of us is having much luck with spells today!

Oh um, I mispronounced several spells in a row and a small explosion happened. Once the smoke had cleared I noticed I had a squirrel tail…
And I’ve ended up with a giant squirrel tail that won’t go away.
So now I’m stuck in the library until I charm it away. There is no way I’m going out with a tail.
-Double backs when she sees a familiar blonde Gryffindor with a frustrated look on her face, her wand aimed at a giant squirrel tail in front of her. Giving the blonde a grin, she said- Have you tried Finite Incantatem yet? That usually works for most when most of my spells go wrong.
No I haven’t! “Finite Incantatem” - Alice frowns as she notices that the bushy squirrel tail is still there - To be honest I don’t think any reversal spell will work until I calm myself down and stop laughing. This could only happen to me!

So now I’m stuck in the library until I charm it away. There is no way I’m going out with a tail.
-Looking up from the parchment she’d been busily scribbling away on, Andromeda almost has to do a double take- How did you manage that? -she deadpans-
- Alice blushes slightly as she realises Andy could see her attractive squirrel tail - Well, um, I may have mispronounced a couple of spells in a row and yeah this happened.

And I’ve ended up with a giant squirrel tail that won’t go away.

Urgh, i know! I was planning on escaping from the castle today but I don’t really feel like it anymore.
Alice, silly! You know you’re not supposed to leave the castle walls. You could get in trouble! It’s a good thing you decided to stay. Hopefully, this rain clears up. It really rattles my nerves.
What the teachers don’t know won’t hurt them!

But in all seriousness I wanted to go swimming in the Black Lake, but that was when it was warm!

Mary, I just tried to message you but the link to your ask box doesn’t work!
Alice Fortescue: a-mudbloods-secrets: Alice Fortescue: It’s a bit quiet around here…
Seems as though Bellatrix has been stirring up trouble already. Nothing major, but it still worries me a lot. The eternal worrier I am.
Maybe we can discuss it more on our way down to Hagrids?
Please tell me Alice, I have no clue what happened? All I know is James and Bellatrix had something to do with it?
Yes! Come and get me when your ready to go, I’ll be in the library!
Excellent! I’ll be at the library in 10 mintues!

Alice Fortescue: Adventures || Alice and Lily
“I didn’t know flirting was so offensive to you.” Alice giggled at Lily’s distaste for James’ actions. Alice glanced around noticing that they were in Third Floor Corridor, their destination. Alice kept walking along the corridor towards the statue of the one-eyed witch.
“Correct Lily!” Alice smiled. “We are actually going to the Gundhilda of Gorsemoor statue.” Alice quickened her pace, eager to get to the statue. Alice was too busy thinking about exploring the tunnel that she nearly missed Lily’s next statement.
“J-Potter!” Alice laughed, “You can call him James; it’s not a sin.” Alice shivered wishing she had been smart enough to put on a jumper under her cloak while she was fixing her hair. Hopefully adrenaline would take over soon.
“But that’s good, I always thought you and him would make a pretty adorable couple.” Alice taunted, knowing the mere thought of dating James would make Lily annoyed. As much as Alice liked the idea of them dating, it was entertaining to watch them have their little ‘fights’.
Suddenly the statue of the creepy one-eye witch came into view. Alice quickly bounced towards it but when she got there she realised that she had absolutely no idea how to open the tunnel. Of all the
“So this is it!” Alice gently poked the witch’s forehead. “Apparently this witch is an entrance to a tunnel that leads to some place outside of Hogwarts, although I very much doubt that.”The statue was honestly one of the ugliest and creepiest statues in the castle and the idea that it hid something so exciting was quiet preposterous to Alice. She dragged her eyes away from the statue and turned to face her friend. “The problem is I have absolutely no idea how to open the tunnel”
Straightening up and scowling, Lily folded her arms again, huffing. “James Potter and I would not make a ‘cute couple’,” she informed Alice sharply, wrinkling her nose in distaste. “And I know I can call him James. I’d just prefer not to. Potter’s-” Lily annunciated pointedly, scowling. “-attention neither interests me nor flatters me. It’s unnecessary and - quite frankly - completely ridiculous.”
Lily’s eyebrows rose in surprise as they came to the statue and she poked it with her finger. “I’ve always loathed this thing,” she said conversationally. How on earth could a statue be the entrance to a secret passageway? She smiled slightly, gazing at the stone figure. “Let’s have a look.”
Lily loved puzzles. Any sort of puzzle, really. As a child, she’d had a fantastic imagination and complete and utter faith in the notion that anything was possible. She never left any riddle unsolved if she could help it - it was like putting down a book before it was finished; simply impossible for her to do. Particularly challenging puzzles were just exercise for thought - she adored them.
Lily squared her shoulders, gazing straight in front of her. She tilted her head at the witch contemplatively, circling it a few times. It was an ugly figure, with one eye and a huge, hunched back… “I could fit in that thing,” she mused quietly, raising an eyebrow at Alice and gesturing to the hump on the witch’s back. “Quite easily,” she added, climbing up onto the elevation and carefully running her fingers over the stone. She knocked on the back, raising her eyebrows. “It’s hollow.”
“Oh Lily.” Alice said once Lily had finished her spiel about James. “James being interested in you is not the worst or most ridiculous thing in the world.” She knew that Lily didn’t really think it was the worst thing in the world but sometimes she could be overtop on her dislike of James. Although she couldn’t really comment on their relationship since she wasn’t a part of it.
She watched as Lily, deep in concentration, circled the statue a few a times. Alice was suddenly even gladder she brought Lily along when she figured out that the statue’s hump was hollow. “Excellent, I knew there was a reason you were my friend.” Alice grinned at Lily as she moved closer to the statue.
“I’d say that a spell would be needed to open it. But it could be anything!” Alice fumbled around in her shoulder bag for a minute before pulling out her wand. She reached over and tapped the hump of the statue, “Open!”
Unsurprisingly nothing happened. “Well I guess that was worth a try.” Alice frowned as she examined the hump more closely. Alice racked her brain trying to recall every single rumour she had heard about the passageway. All she really knew was that it was very old, it would have been constructed with the rest of the castle, and that it led outside the castle. Then, out of the blue, an idea popped into her idea.
“Latin was a widely spoken language when the castle was built wasn’t it?” She never thought her History of Magic lessons would be of actual use. “And the tunnel concealed behind here has to be as old as the castle itself. So maybe, the spell we are looking for is a Latin spell?” She added.
Alice pondered for a moment before looking up at Lily. “Don’t suppose you know any Latin spells that would help us open this?”
As Lily caught up with Alice, she relayed her story about the other night. “Wow! She snapped your wand?” Alice couldn’t imagine being without her wand. Wrist bones could be fixed but your wand couldn’t. To many witches and wizards losing a wand could be quiet devastating, especially to those who had had it for most of their lives. “I’m sure you won’t need it, this trip shouldn’t be too dangerous.” Alice smiled. “When are you getting a new one?”
The two girls approached the Grand Staircase and Alice had to wrack her brains to remember which ones to take. Thankfully the route to the tunnel wasn’t too hard to find, instead it was very well concealed in a popular corridor. As she began to walk, the stairs began to move, which confirmed that she was headed in the right direction.
“Never mind.” Alice said as she waved her hand, knowing that Lily was probably sick to death of talking about the incident. No thanks to the hype that Alice too had unwittingly contributed to. ” But I hear that Narcissa isn’t the only person you have slapped lately?” Alice teased as she grinned widely, recalling the rumour she heard about Lily slapping James.
She always thought that James’
littlemajor crush on Lily was cute. Although she doubted that Lily would appreciated that opinion. Alice sighed wondering if anyone on the planet would ever feel that way about her. But Alice pushed the thought out of her mind, thinking it was best not to dwell on such thoughts. The staircase ended and Alice stepped into the corridor, she waited a second to catch her breath, talking and walking up a staircase could really take it out of a girl. She glanced down the right side of the corridor and realised that they weren’t all that far from their destination.
Lily smiled gratefully at Alice. She was still a little shaken up from the previous day, mainly due to the fact that it was all anyone was asking her about. Bella unnerved her… She wasn’t much scared for herself, more for Marly and the others… Gryffindors were headstrong by nature, and she definitely understood the pride and protective instincts they were exhibiting. Of course, that was part of why she was trying to convince them otherwise. There was no way she was letting any of them get hurt fighting her battles for her.
She groaned at the implication of James, sighing inwardly. “He was being an awful prat,” Lily informed her defensively, folding her arms. “He called me all sorts of things and he was flirting and just ugh!” She scowled, tucking her satchel more firmly under her arm and huffing. She still hadn’t forgiven James for what he’d said on the train, despite their conversation earlier.
They stopped as they reached the Third Floor Corridor and Lily glanced at Alice curiously. “Where are we going?” she asked again, frowning and glancing around. “The only thing up here is a statue Gunhilda of Gorsemoor. Creepy one-eyed witch,” she frowned, wrinkling her nose at the statue. She bit her lip as she tugged her cloak more firmly around herself. “I apologised to him, you know,” she said softly. “J- Potter.”
“I didn’t know flirting was so offensive to you.” Alice giggled at Lily’s distaste for James’ actions. Alice glanced around noticing that they were in Third Floor Corridor, their destination. Alice kept walking along the corridor towards the statue of the one-eyed witch.

Alice Fortescue: Adventures || Alice and Lily
Alice looked up as she saw her red headed friend round the corner and her face lit up in delight. “Lily! How are you?” Alice asked as she lifted herself up from the bench and gave Lily a friendly hug. ” I was thinking we could explore some of Hogwart’s more mysterious passageways.” Alice replied, with an excited glint in her eye.
Alice had heard of sorts of rumours about Hogwarts hidden passageways and classrooms but had yet to visit any herself. But recently she had acquired information about a hidden passageway which supposedly led outside the castle. Alice didn’t really want to do it on her own and Lily was the perfect person to explore with. But she was hoping that Lily, as a prefect, wouldn’t freak out if the tunnel did end up leading outside the castle. But Lily had an adventurous spirit that matched both her brains and her kindness. Plus even if the passageway led nowhere or they couldn’t find it she would have at least spent some decent time with Lily.
” I’ll explain more once we get there.” Alice stated, barely containing her excitement. “And we’ll have plenty of time to catch up on there. So you can tell me everything that is happening in Lily-land.”
Alice turned and began to walk, motioning Lily to follow.
Lily raised her eyebrows at the mention of a secret passageway, glancing at Alice curiously. She’d always personally thought those stories were myth; clever gimmicks for the older students to try and get the First Years lost. She’d never really thought about the possibility of the secret passageways actually existing. Then again, she did go to a boarding school for Witchcraft and Wizardry. She ought to have expected the unexpected.
She rolled her eyes, swinging her satchel over her shoulder and hurriedly following the blonde girl. Huffing, she folded her arms, tilting her chin up. She really didn’t understand what the big fuss was about - Marly was going nuts and Sirius was mad and blooming Potter, the idiot… “Everyone’s ridiculous,” she muttered under her breath. Then with a sigh, she looked to her friend.
“Narcissa Malfoy and I got into a disagreement yesterday…” Lily he started, her cheeks flushing pale pink. “I told her it was wrong for her to shun Sirius because he stood up for others. She not-so-politely informed me that I was ‘filth’ because of my heritage and my opinion wasn’t worth her time. I kind of got a little mad and I slapped her… And then Bellatrix came after me and snapped my wrist. And my wand,” she added thoughtfully, turning to Alice. “I won’t need it, will I?”
As Lily caught up with Alice, she relayed her story about the other night. “Wow! She snapped your wand?” Alice couldn’t imagine being without her wand. Wrist bones could be fixed but your wand couldn’t.
